the pure core organic life mirror

a word about sweets

tho its been said a million times, it is absolutely true - sweets are best when eaten in moderation, and always when they are made with organic, natural sweeteners such as fruit, maple syrup, brown rice syrup, barley malt, date sugar or organic cane sugar... for optimum health and well being it truly is best to keep consumption of cane sugar to a minimum, and to abstain from excessive consumption of all sugars in general

over the years we've gone through periods where we consumed moderate amounts of organic cane sugar, usually as a result of prevailing psychic or social conditions... but each time, we always came off of it further convinced of the detrimental affects that an excessive use of sugar has on every aspect of health - from teeth to psychology... its negative effects are as broad as its wide scale availability

at this point, sweets like the ones listed here as deserts are eaten and enjoyed occasionally, and usually for celebratory purposes - most of the time, our 'treats' are things like a cup of organic tea with a little stevia in it, a bowl of rice (cooked, crispy, or puffed) with soy milk and sometimes apple sauce or fruit, a piece of apple, plain or with nut butter, a piece of homemade bread, or some organic fair trade dark chocolate

there are volumes of information on this subject, but this is our basic take on it, and how we enjoy the sweeter side of things... where we live, seasonal local fruits like apples, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, cherries, grapes, peaches, nectarines, and melons are delicacies long awaited throughout the rest of the year... simple whole foods like these, and a little extra sweetness (especially during the winter months) from things like raisins and maple syrup are our favorites, and we can highly recommend these choices for great overall health
