

10.29 freak snowstorm (and most unusually, one year later *to the day*, we got hit with hurricane sandy)


10.30 most of the trees still had their leaves, so the heavy snow was putting tremendous pressure on them


10.30 through the night we heard constant cracking and falling, as trees and branches snapped from the weight


10.30 lost a beautiful dogwood and large portions of many other trees


10.30 in the morning it was sunny and clear, with the forest looking as if some large hand had pushed the trees over


10.30 we were without power for 5 days, which was extremely enlightening... a lot of time was spent cleaning up the gigantic mess


10.30 as it melted, in less than 24 hours, the bright fall leaves were revealed again
